Helping to fulfill the primary mission of The Signatry in facilitating revolutionary biblical generosity to provide financial support to nonprofit organizations and churches, the Grants Processing Specialist serves on the grants processing team to keep the grants flowing out in a timely manner while simultaneously upholding legal IRS compliance as well as adherence to the biblical values of The Signatry.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented person who is willing to dig/research deeper to uncover necessary granting information, who enjoys serving with excellence to achieve maximum grant velocity in tandem with preservation of core biblical values of The Signatry.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Review of grant recommendations entered by fund holders, under direction of the Senior Grants Processing Coordinator.
  2. Ensures that purpose notes comply with IRS guidelines and The Signatry’s core biblical values.
  3. Assesses available financial resources in fund holders account to satisfy the grant amount.
  4. Reviews and implements instructions given to The Signatry for special grant delivery.
  5. Understands and applies the guidelines of the IRS regarding donations from Donor Advised Funds (DAF) to ensure The Signatry maintains compliance with IRS rules
  6. Assists the donor in understanding our legal and faith guidelines.
  7. Collaboration with the grants processing team to identify potential or actual impediments to increasing grants velocity and implementation of new processes to mitigate barriers to this goal.
  8. Works in conjunction with the rest of the Donor Care team in serving the clients of The Signatry.
  9. Communicates with donors the specifics needed for grant approval including purpose note, fund balance, types of organizations eligible to receive grants from a donor advised fund.
  10. Is knowledgeable and communicates with other departments within The Signatry when attention is needed for a unique grant.
  11. Adherence to time-sensitive grant process with ebb and flow during peak seasons (4th quarter).
  12. Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing The Signatry’s primary technology platform, in addition to other various platforms as needed.
  13. Understands and upholds the role and goals of the Donor Care department in the larger scope of Client Success and The Signatry as a whole.
  14. Coordinates and collaborates with other colleagues and functions (e.g., Investment Education & Accounts, Nonprofit Success, Family and Corporate Generosity Liaison, Legal and Finance) within The Signatry to meet donors’ needs.
  15. Other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a customer-focused or operations role, preferably in a highly-regulated field – legal, financial or medical industries.
  • Preferred experience in donor advised fund grants processing and/or a strong desire to contribute to the success of charitable, faith-based missions and the donors that support them.
  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to correspond professionally and be approachable
  • A demonstrated strong and dedicated work ethic
  • Proficiency in working with the Microsoft Office 365 suite and other cloud-based software solutions in an Apple computer ecosystem is necessary to successfully execute the day-to-day tasks of this role
  • Proactivity, adaptability, grace under pressure, a posture of continuous learning, and a solutions-focused approach to problem solving are essential standards of this position.
  • This role requires high ethical standards and a proven ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Work Location: This position has the option of being a remote placement or being based in KC, based on discussions with the Director of Donor Care

Salary Range: $40k – $45k
