“Set Free: A Cause Champions Story” reveals the people and resources that fueled the largest prison worship experience in history. Culminating in a Grammy-winning worship album recorded inside Everglades Correctional Institution in Miami, FL, the project began with one donor’s question: “Hey, Tony, what’s on your heart?” Tony Brown, of Maverick City Music, replied, “I want to bring Jesus to the darkest places. I want to bring a group of songwriters into a prison and write music.”

That big idea is how an emerging collective of “maverick” artists spent a week alongside prison inmates and transformed their stories into song. By the end of the week, together they had crafted and recorded a worship album that shines a light on where Jesus shows up most: the darkest places we find ourselves.

Hear how Tony Brown, Brandon Lake, pastor Scott Free, and donors Travis and Bridget Joyner came together to bring a crazy vision to life, creating an event that set free artists and prisoners alike.
